The Banaras Hindu University conducts the Banaras Law Entrance Test primarily during the month of May. Although the dates for the year 2018 are not out yet but one could look at the previous year’s dates and schedules to get a better idea of the working of things regarding the same. The test is conducted by Banaras Hindu University for admissions into BA LLB programmes offered at the faculty of Law. Rests for the same are usually declared during the month of June, mostly during the end of 3rd week. Candidates can get the application forms from the official website of BHU when the university releases the forms for filing and submission. Each year the Banaras Hindu University offes a total of 60 seats for admission into BA LLA, through the help of the undergraduate test. Each year the test is conducted across 16 cities throughout the country in offline mode. BLAT Admission Procedure
The BHU goes ahead with the process of shortlisting the candidates on the basis of the merit list that is prepared after the discharge of the BLAT results for the academic year. As such, the candidates who qualify for the test in par with the minimum marks criteria are the ones who are eligible for admission into BA LLB programmes. Furthermore, the candidates also need to fulfill various academic criterias as well as age limit criteria that have been mentioned by the university. Also, candidates with equivalent marks in BLAt will be given rank in the merit list of BLAT as mentioned below –
- For those candidates who have obtained higher marks in the qualifying examination of 10+2 shall be given preference.
- Moreover, candidates who are greater in age shall be preferred.
Note, that the admissions for BA LLB shall only be done on the basis of BLAT criteria for admission.
BLAT Eligibility Criteria
The BLAT admission criteria , or the eligibility criteria gets announced by the university along with the admission notice issued. The BHU eligibility criteria holds into consideration the academic qualifications, age limit and a few other criteria for admission of candidates into BA LLB programmes. - All the candidates who have appeared in 10+2 standard qualifying examination from any acceptable Board of Education in India.
- The applying candidates need to obtain at least fifty percent marks they belong to general category. Forty five percent if the belong to OBC category and forty percent .
- The candidates should not be more than the age of 20 years, and for all reserved categories – SC/ST, they must not cross the age barrier of 22 years.
BLAT Application Form
The web-based application for the test becomes available usually during the month of February in the first week itself. All candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria are open to filling up of the forms for the application process for the admission into the university.
1.Click on the link for the BLAT application form.
2.Start with registering as the ‘new user’ by using a valid mobile and email id.
3.After successful registration, a unique registration number shall be sent to the email id of the candidate.
4.The candidate needs to then login with the provided details into the account and fill up the application form.
5.All candidates need to fill the application form with the necessary details like qualification, reserved category, address and uploading recent passport sized photograph and the signature of the candidate.
6.Moreover, the application fee for the same can be paid through the online mode as well.
7.For the final step, the applicants only need to click the ‘submit’ button to send the BLAT application.
BLAT Admit Card
The BHU issues admit cards for the test during the month of April. All candidates get their admit cards via their web-based portal only. The admit card contains the name, age, exam time and date and other personal information of the candidate. It also includes the location as to where the test is going to be held.

3.Next, click on the tab containing the ‘Admit Card.’
4.Click on the download button and get a print-out of the same.
After successful completion of all necessary steps before the final closing down of admission procedure, BHU announces for the counseling of the students who have successfully fulfilled all the criteria. Next, the candidates are called for counseling, after the results have been announced. The counseling letter contains the time, venue, roll number and further instructions for the candidates to go through the counseling smoothly.
