The common law admission test for PG law programmes is more famously known as CLAT PG which is conducted for admissions into LLM programmes under the National Law Universities (NLU). Hence, CLAT PG is most conducive for entrance exam as a gateway for admissions into post graduate law programmes into NLU’s. CLAT PG in a national level law entrance exam that is conducted each year for screening the candidates for as many as 604 seats that are distributed across all the participating NLUs in the country.
CLAT PG Admission Procedure
All the post graduate law candidates who wish to apply for the PG course and will be admitted to the same will all be on the basis of merit and preference of the candidates who are appearing for the CLAT PG entrance exam. Before that, the candidates will also be awarded the All India Rank based on the performance in the same test.
The CLAT PG admission procedure goes through a unified counseling process, under which the seats are allotted to all the aspiring candidates on the basis of the ranks secured by them in AIR and their preferred NLU’s during the locking down of choices by the candidates.
CLAT PG Eligibility Criteria
All the candidates who are willing to apply for the post graduate course can apply for the CLAT PG after ensuring that they are fulfilling all the necessary criteria for eligibility for the post graduate common law admission test. Now, given the eligibility requirements, a candidate needs to possess a degree of LLB or a five-year integrated degree of LLB or any other that is equivalent from a well-known university with a total aggregate of at least 55 percent marks. Those candidates who are appearing for the next session of LLB degree can also be considered eligible for CLAT PG, if they are subject to minimum qualifying marks in the exam.
Moreover, following the CLAT PG eligibility conditions, there has been no age barriers set to restrict any candidates from applying for the constrain of age. Therefore a person can apply freely once the candidate meets the eligibility criteria, while not considering any age limit.
CLAT PG Application Form
The CLAT PG applications are normally announced in online mode. A candidate would only need their login id and password for CLAT PG applications. Web-based applications are generated when a candidate registers for the application into a course through the online portal of the university.
A candidate can access their information and other necessary details from the same account which they have created in the first place. One only would need to upload a set of documents which are required during the online application process of CLAT PG. The candidates have t provide the necessary documents like class 10 mark-sheet, class 12 mark-sheet, bachelor’s degree mark-sheet , signature of the candidate of the candidate.
Once the candidate has successfully filled the application form through the generated login id and password, the candidate needs to send the application fee to the university for the entrance into the common law admission test for post graduate programs. The fee which is to be remitted usually stands at Rs. 4000. The payment can be made in any of the modes that are online and offline. While the online payment mode includes the options of debit, credit, net banking or other similar facility.
CLAT PG Admit Card
The admit card for the CLAT PG is made available to the candidates via the web-based portal of the university conducting the exam usually from the month of April. The candidates can download the admit card by logging in their specific accounts which they had created during the time of application. The candidates are advised to get a print out of the same to avoid any kind of issues at a later stage.
The CLAT PG admit card can also be used as the hall ticket for the candidate when they have to appear for the exam. The hall ticket contains the name, DOB, and other necessary details of the candidate which helps them determine the venue of the exam and the appearing time of the exam.
CLAT PG Counseling
Usually, the examination committee declares the counseling dates for when the students have to visit the given place at the given time. The candidates will be required to participate in the CLAT PG counseling session mainly held for the students to help them decide and loch down their choices.
Now, as per the locked choices and scores that have been secured by the candidates in the exam, the candidates will be allotted seats and would require them to process the remaining of the fees for confirming their admissions into the university. After successful completion of first counseling round, the candidates are then sent to the second round, and then the candidates are sent for the final round of counseling and the finally their admissions are booked.
