WBJEE 2018: Everything you Want to Know

WBJEE stands for West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam which is a state level exam conducted by WBJEE board every year. Aspirants can take admission in various professional UG and PG courses in disciplines like engineering, architecture and pharmacy. Candidates are liable to take admission into various universities, Govt. colleges and self-financed institute of the state after qualifying the entrance exam of respective year. As per current declarations by board, entrance exam will be held in May 2018 and application form will be available from January 2018 onwards. Though, the current declarations are more like tentative dates which can be changed later if authority wants to. It is advisable to all candidates to check the official website www.wbjeeb.in on a regular basis so to get instant updates of new curriculums. Here, we are providing all information related to entrance exam like application form, exam date, pattern, eligibility, result etc.


The main phase of getting enrolled for 2018 entrance exam is application form which is mandatory to fill accurately and submit to the respective board. At this instant, candidates can only apply for this exam via online mode and thus need to upload their scanned documents at the time of filling up application form only. Candidates who want to appear in WBJEE 2018 entrance exam must create their account on the official site which is the registration process. After successfully registering themselves on the website, candidates need to fill up all the required details & upload their scanned documents. In case any candidate have entered wrong detail then correction period will start from 1st week of February 2018.

 Note: Applicants must take the print out of confirmation page which simply states that they have successfully registered themselves for the 2018 WBJEE exam.

 Following are the required documents for registering in 2018 WBJEE entrance exams:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheet
  • Category certificate
  • Domicile certificate
  • Income certificate
  • PWD certificate
  • Colored passport size photo
  • Left hand thumb impression
  • Signature


  • In order to register for the entrance exam, all candidates have to pay Rs. 500/- which can be paid via credit card, debit card or net banking in online mode.
  • In case, any candidate wants to pay registration fee via offline mode then same can be done through E-Challan (ALLAHABAD BANK)


  • Nationality of applicant must be Indian
  • Candidate must have Passed/appearing in 12th with science stream only
  • Candidate who are appearing for architecture Programme must have English subject in their 12th
  • Candidate must score at least 50% marks (For GEN) & 45% (For SC/ST)
  • Candidate’s age must be 17 years on 31st December 2018


Here candidate get details about the pattern of exam. The paper held in two slots. In first slot, there are 80 questions and 2nd slot has 75 questions. Each slot will be of maximum 100 marks.

Marking scheme  Category 1 questions- +1 for correct answer; 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer
Category 2 questions- +2 for correct answer; 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer
Category 3 questions- +1 for correct answer; no negative marking

Further, the test paper will be divided into three subjects that contain the different number of questions under each category. WBJEE has set single right answer as well as multiple correct answer schemes in the test paper which is clearly described in points:

  • In Category 1 & 2 only single option is correct answer.
  • Whereas in Category 3rd more than one option is correct answer.

Admit Card

 Applicants can download their admit card via online mode by entering application no. & password issued at the time of registration. The admit card contains all the details related to exam and most probably will be issued from the 2nd week of April 2018. Candidates must bring a printout of their admit card while appearing at examination hall.


Candidates can check their result online on wbjee.nic.in site.  The result will be declared in 1st week of June2018 (EXPECTED)


WBJEE 2018 counseling will start from the last week of June 2018 (expected). The seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit. Candidates can choose the college of their choice. The counseling for colleges will be held in 3 rounds. For (SC/ST OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD) and who are domicile of WEST BENGAL will be eligible for reserved seats. More than 3500 Seats are available for the aspirants.
