The Law School Admission Test had been announced by Pearson VUE on behalf of the USA based Law School Admission Council on September 14th, 2016. The announcement was made along with the online registration process for LSAT India application form. The LSAT in 2017 was conducted as an offline test for admissions into five-year undergrad integrated and two-year postgraduate law courses, across a total of 80 law schools from the country. The pen-based test holds as many as 100 questions that are to be attempted with a span of two and a half hours. All candidates who seek to get admission into the undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses for law need to apply for the LSAT, maximum by the 1st week of May of any academic year.
Admission Process of LSAT (India)
The Law School Admission Test is conducted by Pearson VUE for law admissions into various Indian Law Schools. The process of admission begins during the month of September with the notification of the law schools. Along with the notification, the admission forms for the same become available for the candidates who wish to apply. An entrance test is held during the month on May for shortlisting the eligible candidates who will be able to apply for the LSAT India. Next, each of the 80 participating law schools prepares a merit list on the basis of scores attained by the candidates in the test for admitting the qualifying candidates.
Admit Card For LSAT (India)
The admit cards for LSAT are released by Pearson VUE, and all participating applicants can get a copy of their admit cards downloaded from the official website by logging into their registered accounts of law school admission test. The LSAT admit cards act as hall tickets for candidates to appear for the test. The admit cards consist of details like exam name, exam date, venue, and course detail opted by the candidate. The admit card also contains the roll number of the candidate for easy allocation of a system during the test. Incidentally, if any kind of discrepancy is located by the candidate regarding their admit cards, they should bring it to immediate notice with the examination officials. Under any situation, no candidate shall be allowed to enter the examination hall without a valid LSAT admit card.
Exam Pattern LSAT (India)
The USA based LSAC has announced the LSAT exam pattern, that mentions that all applying candidates shall be examined on domains of critical thinking skills, and as such, no questions will be put up to test prior legal knowhow or mathematical skills or any form of general knowledge. The offline question paper contains as many as 100 questions which are multiple choice by nature. All applicants need to attempt the entire paper within a span of two and a half hour. In the paper, the candidates have to only shade the answer which they feel is correct, against the given questions. The paper does not contain any sort of negative marking and as such it is advised to leave questions unmarked which the candidate may not know the answer to.
Eligibility Criteria LSAT (India)
Following the eligibility criteria are given by Pearson VUE, all those candidates are eligible to apply who are –
- Citizens of India.
- Have qualified the 10+2 board examination from a well-known institution.
- Candidates who are applying for LLM or any of the postgraduate courses need to have a degree in LL.B with minimum marks needed to qualify.
- Qualifying marks for all the participating 80 colleges vary from each other.
Application Form LSAT (India)
Pearson VUE is responsible for releasing the application forms for the LSAT India. All candidates applying for the test need to fill up their details like name, age. DOB, email id and their registered mobile number in the application form.
Once the candidate has completed registration for the admission test, they receive a confirmation mail in their registered email id’s provided by them.
Further, the candidates have to remit a fee of Rs. 3800 Against LSAT India application by any means of payment including – Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking/ DD/Banker’s cheque, etc.
Next, the candidate should submit the filled application form on the web-based portal of the university before the last date of doing the same.
Failure to submit the application form in time will result in cancellation of the candidate’s application to the programme.
