Listening to Problem Solving
A caller explains a problem to someone who has to fix it. Track who wants what and what went wrong in the opening exchange — most of the questions hang on that.
CELPIP Listening practice questions on PrepAmigo are filed the way the test itself is filed: Parts 1 to 6, each with its own recording style and its own way of hiding the answer. This page is the index to all of them. Every row in the table is a real set you can open and answer in the browser, and the breakdown further down shows how many sets sit behind each part and each difficulty level.

The numbers below are read from the live question bank when this page is rebuilt, so they move as material is published rather than staying frozen in a marketing sentence. Read the split before you plan a week of practice: a part carrying several hundred sets will absorb daily drilling without ever repeating a recording, while a part with a smaller count is short enough to finish end to end — worth doing at least once so that no format arrives unfamiliar on the day.
Difficulty is attached to the individual set rather than to the part, so you can stay inside one part and still climb. The three counts on the right cover every listening set in the bank at each level. A workable ladder is to clear a run of easier sets in the part you quietly avoid, then repeat that same part at the hardest level available: the recordings tighten and the wrong options move closer to the right one, but the underlying question logic does not change.
| Part | What it covers | Practice sets |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | Listening to Problem Solving | 104 |
| Part 2 | Listening to a Daily Life Conversation | 217 |
| Part 3 | Listening for Information | 151 |
| Part 4 | Listening to a News Item | 104 |
| Part 5 | Listening to a Discussion | 104 |
| Part 6 | Listening for Viewpoints | 104 |
| All listening sets | 784 | |
Every published listening set, counted by the level it is filed under.
Most sets in the bank carry a short description of their own. The ones below are copied unchanged out of sets that appear in the table above — no editing, no summarising — so you can see the kind of situation each recording drops you into and choose deliberately instead of clicking the first row.
Marc Aubry, who runs a small bakery in Moncton, posted a frustrated message on the neighbourhood forum last month after his twenty-year-old commercial oven finally gave out during the Saturday morning
A library system suspends overdue fines for a trial year, raising questions about returns, lost revenue and who the fines actually deter
A caller asks a transit agent how to register for accessible public transit and how bookings, companions, and cancellations work.
Open a single part from the cards at the top of this page and work only there until the shape of the format stops surprising you. Sessions that hop between parts feel productive and tell you very little about which format is actually costing you marks.
The Difficulty column is there to be used. Clear the easier end of one part first, then run the same part again at the hard end. You are holding the format constant and changing only the pressure, which is what makes the result readable.
Do a complete pass without touching the audio controls and mark every question you were not sure about. Only then replay. The questions where your first and second answers disagree are the whole lesson; the ones you got right twice are not.
Once you are signed in, the Status column remembers which sets you have finished. Check it occasionally to see whether your completed sets are spread across all six parts or piled onto the two you enjoy.
The breakdown table is not decoration. Where one part holds several times the material of another, that is where a week of unrepeated practice fits; where a part is small, treat it as something to complete rather than something to grind.
This page is the drill floor. For what each part is testing and how to attack it, read our CELPIP Listening tips for Parts 1–6.
By title, using a natural sort that keeps numbered sets in numeric order instead of alphabetical order. The order is identical on every visit, which is what makes it usable for working through a part systematically. The table shows the first hundred sets; the link underneath opens the rest of the library.
It is a property of the individual practice set, not of the CELPIP part it belongs to. Two sets in the same part can sit at different levels, so the column is the quickest way to raise or lower the pressure without changing the format you are drilling.
Because you are looking at the signed-out version of the page. Nothing is broken — with no account attached, every set genuinely is not started. Sign in and that column, plus the three progress counters, is rewritten with your own history on the next load.
No. Each set plays inside the browser on its practice page, so a phone on the bus behaves the same as a laptop at a desk. Use headphones where you can: a fair amount of what separates a right answer from a near miss lives in how a speaker says something rather than in what is said.
Early on, one part at a time. You are learning the shape of a format, and that only becomes visible through repetition. Shuffling is worth saving for the final stretch, when the skill you need is switching formats quickly rather than mastering any single one.
This page pools every listening set into one table so you can compare parts and see the overall spread. Each part page narrows the same table to a single format and keeps its own description and question list, which makes it the better bookmark once you know what you are working on.
